Science

Agriculture (A/T)

Agriculture is of great economic importance to Australia. This course is provided for students who have an interest in agriculture and who may wish to pursue further studies in rural industry as well as those who want a career in this field but are not tertiary bound.

Biology (T)

Biology is one of the great disciplines of science and provides an opportunity for students to develop an understanding of their own complex physical existence and the relationship humans have established with the environment.

The course also provides a sound basis for further tertiary studies and an excellent knowledge base for a career in a biological science.

Chemistry (T)

A study of chemistry allows a student to develop a conceptual understanding of the weird and wonderful ways different substances react.

It is an important and central scientific discipline and is strongly recommended for those with an interest in pursuing tertiary studies for subsequent scientific careers

Physics (T)

Physics students investigate the fundamental nature of the physical universe. The course takes students on a journey through classical Physics concepts and introduces them to areas such as quantum physics and nuclear physics.

A study of physics provides a conceptual underpinning for the physical sciences and a sound basis for tertiary studies leading to technologically based careers

Science (A/T)

A knowledge of scientific facts and principles is its own reward with a number of spin offs. These courses are for students who have an interest in Science who are not necessarily committed to further studies in this area. Studies of Biology, Chemistry and Physics tend to become sharply focussed, often with view to specific tertiary outcomes.

Each unit is theme based and covers the topic from various perspectives and may include aspects of Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Astronomy or Geology.

A country the size of Australia requires an efficient and effective aviation industry. The unique Lake Tuggeranong Flight course offers the opportunity for young people to gain the theoretical knowledge to pass the Civil Aviation Authority examinations to Unrestricted Private Pilot's Licence level.

This course is run in conjunction with flying training conducted by training organisations at Canberra airport. This is a supportive and cost effective structure for initial flying training and provides an excellent stepping-stone for a future career in aviation.
