The Multimedia Skill Centre

The Information Age has brought us multimedia, digital information, CD ROMs, e-mail, interactive presentations and the World Wide Web. These terms have become both familiar to us and terms of trepidation.

Multimedia does not sound daunting when described as the combination of sound, video and other media into one interactive presentation. Most of us have used the Internet or sent an e-mail. There is no need for trepidation. We are immersed already in the multimedia and digital revolution. Lake Tuggeranong College has embraced the challenge of multimedia and the digital age with the provision of funding from the Australian National Training Authority.

The establishment of the Lake Tuggeranong College Multimedia Skill Centre has been a challenging and exciting task. The Centre, located at Lake Tuggeranong College, close to business, government, entertainment, and other education institutions, offers members of these industries an opportunity to become involved in and use the latest digital technologies and industry standard facilities.

The Lake Tuggeranong College Multimedia Skill Centre conducts vocational education courses for secondary and tertiary students, and training programs for the education industry. It also provides access to high level facilities for production firms. Adult education classes at night provide training in digital arts for community members. Students who have trained at the Multimedia centre have gone on to further studies and jobs in the graphic and interactive multimedia industries.
