Outdoor Education Expeditions

Students and staff during second semester 2006 travelled to many far away places and had many amazing and challenging experiences.  Some of these included Canyoning in the Blue Mountains, Cross Country and Down Hill Skiing at Perisher and Surfing, Snorkeling and Fishing at the south coast.

Congratulations to Sarah M and Scott S who received the subject award for their efforts in Outdoor Education in the last few years.  Both students have made huge contributions to the program and we hope to see them back next year in a leadership role.

Students in Outdoor Education are constantly meeting challenges, learning new skills and making great friends.  Below are some student’s comments and typical action shots from our excursions.

“Outdoor Education is great fun.  We learn a lot of new things; go to some fantastic places, but best of all we make some great friends.”  Siobhan G Year 12

“When I first found out there was an Outdoor Ed class I thought it would be boring and like normal PE classes.  However after joining the class I found out that it was nowhere near boring and learnt many things about the topics.  I found that the Outdoor Ed class has helped me to realise that I was not hopeless at physical sports.  Since joining the class I have found College more enjoyable and as a result my grades have improved.”  Luke WB Year 12

“Vanuatu was the best experience of my life, during which I participated in an entirely different lifestyle and culture.  I developed close bonds with many of my peers and created friendships and memories that will last a lifetime.”  Anthea C Year 11

In 2007 we are planning to again run the excursion to Vanuatu.  We are hoping to repeat the incredible educational experience of the last visit, where students not only enjoyed the fantastically clear waters teaming with marine life, but also came to appreciate the culture of Vanuatu and its special people.  We hope to revisit this highly successful excursion in late August.  The cost of the excursion will be approximately $1600.00 and will only be open to Outdoor Education students.  More details will be given out in the second week of term one.
