Assemblies

Occasionally it is neccessary for the whole college to meet togther, whether it is to be informed about current or upcoming events within the life of the college or to acknowledge the efforts of students from within the college. Students are advised of assemblies via AG meetings. They are listed on the Semester planner. * All students are reminded they are expected to attend all assemblies whether they have a class on that line or not.

Attendance

If a student misses a class for some reason, the next time they are in class, it is mandatory to inform the teacher as to why and follow this up with a note or medical certificate. The teacher will decide whether or not the reason is acceptable. If it is not then the student will be marked absent on the roll. Generally a doctor’s certificate will be accepted as a reasonable excuse for an absence. If a student has more than 3 unacceptable absences in a term (6 in a semester), parents will be sent a letter advising that assessement may be in jeopardy in that unit unless an agreement with the teacher involved is made. This applies to AG meetings also. If students do not see the teacher or do not keep to the agreement, then they may not receive a grade or points for that unit. Parents are advised to contact the College to ensure that the agreement is in place. Note: If consideration for alternate assessment is requested, absences during the major assessment periods will require a medical certificate.
